FAQ

Do I have to upgrade? Is this mandatory?

This upgrade is not mandatory. If you are a Gutenberg enthusiast, if you love all the perks and features that come natively with WordPress, and at the same time don’t want to give up the design freedom and aesthetic offered by Flex, you can consider upgrading to Pronto. Yet, if you’re happy with your current website setting, there is no need to upgrade. You can continue using your current theme, and we’ll continue supporting it!

What is Gutenberg?

Gutenberg is WordPress’ default editor. It was released back in 2018 and introduced a block-based system that allows you to create pages and posts, easily, by drag and dropping blocks around. Before, with Flothemes, you had a separate area, where you could add WP content and use Gutenberg blocks, yet those options were fairly limiting. Now, after upgrading to Pronto, you’ll be able to access all Gutenberg native blocks, and mix them easily with Flex and Flothemes blocks, in one editing area. It’s super simple and makes the process more intuitive.

What is Pronto and what does it do?

To make things simple, we called this upgrade – Pronto. Pronto is a new, fully rebuilt, lightweight theme core, powered by Flex and fully integrated into WordPress’ ecosystem. Apart from offering a simpler, more streamlined process of building your pages and posts, Pronto delivers faster loading times, better performance results and is optimized for Google’s upcoming Core Web Vitals update, that will roll out this summer. You get more options, more flexibility + get to keep using Flex, our custom block designer.

Am I eligible to upgrade?

This is an upgrade option for Flexthemes users. Anyone with a Flextheme (Mono, Lyra, June, Velvet, Elise, Nomade, Nessa, Ember, Cotton, Faro, Verso, Zephyr) and an active support subscription, will get the upgrade files for free. They will be available via your Downloads tab, in your My Account area. Note that you need to keep an active support subscription at all times, in order to use Pronto.

I am a Classic theme user, what are my options?

If you want to access Pronto, you will need to buy a Flextheme. Your purchase will come with your flextheme files, 12 free months of support subscription + the Pronto files. From there, you can switch your website directly to Pronto, by following our tutorials and documentation. There will be a learning curve, as the dashboard is quite different from your Classic theme – but the extra options, new features, performance scores and design flexibility – are so much worth it, we promise!

When migrating, you’ll be able to manually transfer your existing Flex blocks into Pronto (by exporting/importing them), yet the rest of the layouts will need to be rebuilt.

How do I know if my support subscription is active or not?

You can easily check that by accessing your account on flothemes.com, the Support tab: www.flothemes.com/my-account/flo-support If you’ve purchased your theme less than 12 months ago, it came with 12 free months of support, hence you’re eligible to access the upgrade for free. Note that you need to keep an active support subscription at all times, in order to use Pronto.

Is support subscription required at all times while using Pronto? What happens when my support subscription expires?

Yes, you need to have an active support subscription throughout the whole time you’re using Pronto. When your support expires, the Flex block editor stops working and you won’t be able to tweak your existing Flex blocks or create new Flex blocks. On the frontend, everything will work fine, your site won’t go blank or stop working. You’ll be able to create new sections using Gutenberg blocks, but not Flex.
As soon as you activate back your support subscription, you’ll gain access to the Flex editor again.

Which support subscription do I have to get to use Pronto?

Any of the 3 packages listed here, will work. Know that your support package applies per account, not per theme. Hence, if you own more than 1 theme, you don’t have to get a support subscription per each. You only need 1 support subscription package and it will cover support for all your Flo products + allow you to access your Pronto upgrade files.

Do I have to purchase another theme?

If you own a Flextheme (Mono, Lyra, June, Velvet, Elise, Nomade, Nessa, Ember, Cotton, Faro, Verso, Zephyr) – then no, you don’t have to purchase another theme. If you have an older theme, or are new to Flothemes, you’ll need to buy a Flextheme, to get access to the upgrade options.

I recently launched my new site, do I need to do loads of work again to upgrade to this?

If your current website is built with a Flextheme – the upgrade to Pronto won’t take too much effort. You’ll be provided a migration plugin, that will help you transfer your Flex blocks. Your blog posts and galleries will also transfer. Most of the work will involve – rebuilding the header, footer, contact form, newsletter block, the global layouts and the structure of the pages with a custom layout enabled.

How easy is the upgrade?

For Flexthemes users, it’s a couple of hours, up to a day of work, depending on how much content and pages you have on your site. For a Classic or Legacy theme user – upgrading involves the same amount of work as switching themes and rebuilding everything. If you use Flex blocks with your current Classic theme, you’ll be able to transfer them into Pronto, by manually exporting and importing them.
